I am Narasimha - of Lion and Man, some say I am an avatar of Vishnu, supreme being, God of Protection and the Preservation of Good, but this is a misconception. I am both lion and man but Vishnu, I am not. I am Narashimha, king of beasts, protector of the innocent, and guardian of the treasures of the Earth. The beasts who reside in my jungle are both peaceful and fearsome. Together we protect the world from all forms of evil. We guard the world's wealth of knowledge and arts housed in my hidden kingdom. Right now, knowledge is safe and the world is at peace; but once, long ago, our knowledge, our art, and humanity was in great peril.
Evil incarnate and their minions ravaged the world in search of my temple and the knowledge hidden within. To them, treasure meant gold and jewels for they knew not that true wealth lies in knowledge, art, and understanding. So, therefore, they waged war against my kingdom not fully understanding what they sought or who they destroyed in search of it. War raged for a thousand years and ravaged our jungle home and the violence spilled like an overflowing cup out into the rest of the world destroying human settlements as it went. I dispatched my beast creatures of every size, big and small, strong and fearsome, or weak of body but strong of mind to aid the humans in any way we could and serve as protectors to their homes. The War of Beasts was brutal and long, humanity suffered. My beasts and I suffered alongside them as evil thrived. So I am here in this time of peace to tell you our story so we may never forget.
Once, we suffered, but then, a hero arose.
